I’m Jodie

I support parents and carers of neurospicy kids, teens, and young people.

My work is shaped by nearly thirty years as a social worker across disability, out-of-home care, family support and child protection — and by my lived experience as a parent of two neurodivergent adult children.

I bring both professional knowledge and lived understanding to this work. I understand the emotional load, the second-guessing, and the moments parenting can feel overwhelming.

I’ve worked alongside families navigating complex challenges, supporting parents and carers to better understand their child, respond with confidence, and create more calm and connection at home.

My belief is simple: behaviour is communication, and children flourish when the adults around them have the right insight, tools, and support.

What I Do

I work alongside the adults parenting neurodivergent children — not directly with children themselves.

Sessions are conversational, practical, and tailored to what is happening in your family. You bring what feels hard, and together we make sense of what may help.

I support parents to understand what may sit beneath behaviour — including demand avoidance, sensory load, anxiety and overwhelm — so you feel less stuck and less alone.

Together we work toward responses that lower pressure, build safety, and strengthen connection.

You might learn how to:

  • reduce demands without losing boundaries

  • use language your child’s nervous system can hear

  • stay steady when things escalate

  • respond in ways that support tomorrow, not just survive today

It’s not about getting it perfect. It’s about finding what works for your child and feeling more confident as you do.

My Approach

My approach is warm, practical, trauma-informed, attachment-aware and neuroaffirming.

I don’t believe in quick fixes or one-size-fits-all strategies.

Instead, I help you make sense of what is happening and find realistic ways forward that fit your child, your family and everyday life.

My goal is for you to feel:

  • More confident in how you support your child

  • Less alone in the process

  • Clearer about what is actually going to help
